Setting Up of ICSE Schools – The Emerging Board
About The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education is a private board of secondary education in India. ICSE examination is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations in English medium. It was established in 1958. It follows the recommendations of the New Education Policy 1986. More than 2,300 schools in India and abroad are affiliated to CISCE. Private candidates cannot appear for this examination.

Subjects Candidates have to study six to seven subjects. Some subjects may have two to three papers. In such cases, average marks are calculated to obtain the final marks of the subjects.
Why is ICSE board better?
ICSE and CBSE are the two major boards in India. ICSE focuses on practical knowledge whereas CBSE focuses on theoretical concepts. As a result, it does not improve the practical knowledge of the students. ICSE syllabus is tougher than CBSE in the sense that ICSE goes into every detail. It tries to build analytical skills in students. Candidates appearing for TOEFL exam have an upper hand if they are from ICSE background. ICSE schools are in charge of promoting quality education for higher classes and also emphasize on foundation building from the very beginning.

Why do parents prefer ICSE Board? Students have to work hard to clear ICSE exams as the structure emphasizes on detailed studies. The quality of science and arts syllabi is definitely higher than State boards. The syllabus is based on application and has rational behind it. It prepares students for IIT - JEE and NEET. Enrolment rates at ICSE schools are higher than State boards. Teachers focus not only on syllabus completion but also on the quality of education imparted. It involves students in the learning process. Many subject enrichment classes are taken for students who need extra help. We can say that it is more the job of teachers to make the students study rather than students making themselves study. How to start an ICSE Affiliated School in India?
- To apply for an affiliation, a school must have
- Association with a Trust/Society/Company
- State Board recognition and a NO Objection Certificate.

ICSE is one of the emerging boards in India. The only Indian board which enjoys international recognition is the ICSE board.
