Some say that Chapatti came from the Egyptian Indus Valley civilization 5000 years ago. Others claim it was founded in East Africa and brought over to India. Traditionally, Chapatti is made without salt, giving a bland background to spicy dishes. But, there are many variations of Roti that are found around the world. Chapatti, phulka, roti – no meal in India is complete without this quintessential flatbread. It’s as much an Indian cuisine table essential as rice. And while North India is known to be particularly fixated about this oldest flatbread, there is no denying that it is one of the easy-to-take-to and yet one of the tricky dishes to make – both shape and softness wise.
Another version states that roti travelled all the way from East Africa, where the production of wheat and the making of round flatbreads without any need of fermentation, was evident. This could also be possible because of the trade route. In fact, stories suggest that the unleavened flat bread was a staple food among the Swahili speaking people of Africa.

Why The Demand Is Increasing For Automatic Chapatti Maker?
These chapatti making machines are being widely applied for varied uses in the food processing industries. These machines are being manufactured by our engineers only from highly quality approved manufacturing processes. Chapattis are made from a firm but pliable dough made from flour (whole grain common wheat), 'Atta' in and water. Some people also add salt and/or oil to the dough. Small portions of the dough are rolled out into discs much like a Mexican tortilla, using a rolling pin. The rolled-out dough is thrown on the preheated dry skillet and cooked on both sides. In some regions it is only partly cooked on the skillet, and then put directly on a high flame, which makes it blow up like a balloon. The hot air cooks the chapattis rapidly from the inside. In some parts of northern India (e.g. Punjab) and Pakistan, this is called a phulka (that which has been inflated).

The changing lifestyles of a large section of the population apart from rising disposable income are expected to be the key drivers of the global roti maker market during the forecast period. Additionally, as the Indian subcontinent’s cuisine, of which roti is an integral part, becomes popular across the world, the demand for them is likely to rise. As more and more people move away from their homes for education and to find work, they are unable to enjoy home-cooked meals. Thus, the roti maker becomes a way for them to make up for this. These machines are easy to use apart from being cost effective. Rising disposable income acts as a driver in that more people are able to afford such machines due to the increased capacity to spend. Furthermore, such machinery enable one to spend lesser time in the kitchen and is thus attractive to the working women of today. Moreover, consumer awareness regarding household appliances is on the rise which is expected to give a boost to the roti maker market. These factors would spur demand for the products of the roti maker machine industry.
