Profitable Rubberized Coir Mattress Business in India

A coir and foam mattress is another name for a coir mattress. A coir mattress typically has a sheet of coir or rubberized coir on the bottom and a layer of polyurethane foam on top. It's impossible to sleep solely on coir. To make it soft, a sheet of polyurethane foam is attached to the end. Over the past five years, the overall mattress industry in India has risen by more than 11% in the CAGR. The demand for a high-quality mattress in India is rising as people become more conscious of the advantages of sleep improvement and the benefits for wellbeing. In the production of a commodity, Kerala has an additional benefit in that the requisite raw materials are available abundantly within the state. Let us know more about this emerging industry.

With 20-25 players spanning around 34 percent of the market, the branded market comprises large, medium, and smaller manufacturers. The CAGR of ~13% in the coming 5 years is expected to expand to 37.5% by 202, for the branded mattress market.

Mattress Market Growth Drivers in India

The development of the Indian mattress industry has been accelerated by an increase in income levels and health consciousness, as well as growth in the real estate and hospitality sectors. A noticeable change in market perception has been noted, with the primary emphasis being on the product's convenience and health benefits. With an increased understanding of mattress styles and brands, demand for residential and institutional construction is increasing in India. King-size mattresses are the most common of the different sizes available, and comfort is the most significant factor in their market dominance.

Consumer-driven factors like rising urbanization and improvements in institutional infrastructure (housing, hospitality, and healthcare) are key growth drivers for the entire home and living industry, including the mattress market. The high share of branded players in the mattress industry, on the other hand, can be due to mattress manufacturers' initiatives and investments in developing retail infrastructure and marketing campaigns to raise customer awareness about quality mattresses.

Residential customers accounted for 80% of the demand in 2018, while institutional customers, such as hotels, hospitals, and educational institutions, shared the remaining 20%.
