India is emerging as one of the world's major electronic waste generators and likely to generate 52 lakh metric tonnes (MT) per annum by 2020 from the current level 18 lakh metric tonnes growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 30%.

The global volume of e-waste generated is expected to reach 130 million tons in 2018 from 93.5 million tons in 2016 at a compound annual growth rate of 17.6 percent from 2016 to 201 The e-waste management market has the potential to recycle and recover materials like metals, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastic, glass, and others, including wood and ceramic.

The current e-waste generation pattern is 1.7 million tons / annum, with an alarming growth rate of 15% each year. However, if recycled scientifically, 95-98% of the materials can be recovered and put back in the process of material flow.
