Dhampur Sugar Mills Limited approached NPCS with the objective of identifying a sustainable manufacturing opportunity that could complement its existing agro-industrial operations while making effective use of locally available resources.
After a detailed assessment of the regional raw material ecosystem, market potential, infrastructure availability, investment requirements, and long-term business prospects, NPCS recommended the establishment of a Potato Starch Manufacturing Unit in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
The project was selected due to the region's strong potato cultivation base, reliable raw material availability, and growing demand for potato starch across multiple industries, including food processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, paper manufacturing, adhesives, and biodegradable products.
NPCS carried out a comprehensive techno-economic feasibility study and prepared a Detailed Project Report covering market analysis, raw material assessment, manufacturing technology, plant and machinery requirements, project costing, financial projections, regulatory considerations, and implementation planning.
The study highlighted the strong commercial potential of potato starch as a value-added agro-processing product with opportunities in both domestic and export markets. The project also demonstrated potential for future expansion into higher-value modified starch products, creating additional avenues for growth and profitability.
Based on the findings and recommendations presented in the report, Dhampur Sugar Mills Limited decided to move forward with the project and initiated the next stages of implementation. The engagement reflects how a well-researched feasibility study can support informed investment decisions and help businesses confidently diversify into new manufacturing sectors.
