Thermax Limited’s Chemical Division partnered with Niir Project Consultancy Services (NPCS) to evaluate new growth opportunities within the specialty chemicals sector. The objective was to identify a manufacturing project that aligned with the company’s technical strengths, market positioning, and long-term expansion strategy.

After an extensive techno-economic feasibility assessment, NPCS recommended the establishment of a Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) Manufacturing Unit. The study included market analysis, demand assessment, raw material evaluation, technical feasibility, project cost estimation, financial viability analysis, and implementation planning.

Super Absorbent Polymers are widely used in personal hygiene products, healthcare applications, agriculture, industrial absorbents, construction materials, and specialty chemical formulations. Growing demand across these sectors, combined with India's dependence on imported SAP products, presented a significant opportunity for domestic manufacturing.

NPCS conducted a detailed evaluation of market potential, industry growth trends, supply chain availability, manufacturing technologies, investment requirements, operating costs, and long-term profitability. The analysis highlighted favorable demand fundamentals, opportunities for import substitution, and strong alignment with Thermax’s existing expertise in industrial and specialty chemicals.

Based on the findings and recommendations provided by NPCS, Thermax Limited proceeded with advanced project planning and investment evaluation for the proposed SAP manufacturing venture.
