Prawns, the valuable foreign exchange earner, mackerels, sardines, etc. are available in plenty in Goa coast. Fish is a protein rich food. It forms a chief component in the diet of about 90% of the population of Goa. Capture fisheries of Goa (India) constitute a highly productive sector. They remain one of the major sources of valuable food and employment and a net contributor in the foreign exchange earnings.
