Instant noodles are a precooked and usuallydried noodle block, sold with flavoring powder and/or seasoning oil. Some instant noodle products are sealpacked; these can be reheated or eaten straight from the packet. Dried noodle blocksare cooked or soaked in boiling water before eating.

The main ingredients used in dried noodlesare wheat flour, palm oil, and salt. Common ingredients in the flavoring powderare salt, monosodium glutamate, seasoning, and sugar.

The emergence of instant noodles has added anew dimension to consumers’meals; noodles are being consumed not just by kids(who are the core target audience) as an evening snackor a ‘tiffin’ meal but byconsumers across all age groups, as an eating option beyond the ‘mundane’ ones.While it continues to be a home snack, it is also increasingly being consumedat work place, colleges, etc. Geographically too, the appetite for instantnoodles is growing with players now eyeing the semi-urban and rural markets.
