Alum (Ferric & Non-Ferric) - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In commercial practice, Alum means aluminium sulphate. Alum is used in water treatment as mordant in dyeing. In India alum and aluminium sulphate is manufactured by various firms, both in corporate sector and as small scale units.
Aluminium sulphate mainly used in paper sizing and in water treatment. Pharmaceutically, it is employed in dilute solution as a mild astringent and antiseptic for the skin. Soda alum or aluminium sulphate is used in some baking powders.
Aluminium sulphate is known more as alum. It is a colourless solid, which is soluble in water but insoluble in alcohol. Successful attempts are being made to export aluminium sulphate from India. On an average it is found that 5% of available production is exported to various neighbouring countries. The industry will continue to be a net importer year due to larger production from the new capacities coming up in the industry. There is a good scope for new entrants.
