PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Caffeine is widely used in pharmaceuticals as free base and mixtures, such as citrated caffeine’s caffeine and sodium benzoate. Tea waste or coffee beans, limewater and trichlorothylene are the starting raw materials for its manufacture. Tea waste contains 3-4 percent caffeine.
Caffeine is very useful as stimulant of the central nervous system. It gives definite relief from fatigue and neuralgia. It is also used in headaches originating from eye strains. Its most important physiological action is that on the kidney causing an increased secretion of urine. Caffeine is the principal alkaloid constituent of tea, coffee and some other beverages. As the production of soft drinks increases the demand of caffeine is also likely to increase. Branded pocket teas, instant teas etc. are now the name of the game to boost sales and build up a strong brand loyalty. Tata tea dominates the sector with few foreign big holding in Assam and in the South. There is however no question this industry has a decisive future and a decisive hold on the rest of the plantation and export sectors. It can be concluded that there is a good scope for new entrepreneurs.
