PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Linear alklybenzene is the most important industrial raw material for surfactants derived from petrochemical sources and is even otherwise the most dominant raw material of the detergent industry. Its level of consumption in any global region is an indicator of the scope for detergent products laundry detergents, dishwashing detergent and materials used in the maintenance of buildings, offices, hospitals, school etc. LAB is the main raw material for the production of alkylbenzene sulphuric acid and alkylbenzene sulphonate. The structure of LAB depends on two major factor (1) the petroleum feedstocks used normal paraffins and benzene in terms of range and purities, (2) the method of manufacture of LAB. It is suitable of the derivatives for detergent formulation which are effective at low washing temperature-an aspect of importance as the washing soaps are containing more and sensitive, coloured synthetic fabrics. It is also used in the personnel care products.
