Sorbitan Monooleate - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A mixture of the partial esters of sorbitol and its mono- and dianhydrides with edible oleic acid. The constituent in greatest abundance is 1,4-sorbitan monooleate, with lesser abundance of isosorbide monooleate, sorbitan dioleate and sorbitan trioleate. Amber-coloured oily viscous liquid, light cream to tan beads or flakes or a hard, waxy solid with a slight odour. It is soluble at temperatures above its melting point in ethanol, ether, ethylacetate, aniline, toluene, dioxane, petroleum ether and carbon tetrachloride; insoluble in cold water, dispersible in warm water. Neutralize the polyol solution with a 1 in 10 solution of potassium hydroxide to pH 7 using a suitable pH meter. Evaporate this solution to a moist residue, and separate the polyols from the salts by several extractions with hot alcohol. An emulsifier is a water and oil are mixed together and vigorously shaken, a dispersion of oil droplets in water and via-versa is formed. Sorbitan monooleate (TW80) is widely used as an emulsifier or solubilizer in a variety of foods, cosmetics and other commercial products. It include an ollient creams, reabsorption agent, nontoxic anti=foaming agent. Sorbitan monooleate is produced in India both in the medium scale sector as well as in the small scale sector. One looking its uses there are a good scope for new entrants.
