PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Sulphuric acid a strong acid, is an oily viscous water white non-volatile liquid. It absorbs water from the atmosphere. It is made in large volume by the chemical industry. The acid has a corrosive action on the skin. A drop of it on the skin causes a severe burn. The acid is used as a solvent a dehydrating agent, a reagent in chemical reactions or processes as catalyst an absorbent etc. The concentrated acid is usually stored in steel tanks. The dilute acid may be stored in lead lined or plastic tanks. It is used in very dilute concentrations and as strong fuming acid. It is often recovered and refused. After use in some phases of the explosives, petroleum and dye industries, it is often recovered in a form unsuitable for reuse in that industry but suitable for use in another industry. It is a versatile, useful acid has been called the workhorse of chemical industry. Sulphuric acid is the most important of the inorganic acid. It is mainly produced by the contact process which accounts for about 95% of the total, and less than 5% is made by the lead chamber process which utilizes nitric acid and gives a relatively dilute acid with a sizeable percentage of impurities. Sulphuric acid also having some medicinal uses. Nearly 75% of H2SO4 now produced in India is used for the manufacture of chemicals and fertilizers. Based on the growth rates of end use industries the total demand for Sulphuric acid is estimated to increase from 5.41mnMT in 2003-04 to 8.50 mnMT 2014-15 AD. There will be a good scope for a new units in this industry in long run. As a whole project is good and have a fair market demand.
