Start a Business in Sodium Hydrosulphite Production. Invest in Chemical Industry.

Sodium hydrosulfite (NaHS) is a chemical compound with formula NaHSO3. It is used as a water treatment for lowering pH and to control taste in drinking water. It is also known by various names: sodium acid sulphite, sodium hyposulfite, sulfuric acid sodium salt, or hydrosulfuric acid sodium salt. The anhydrous form is colourless, but commercial samples are often contaminated with crystalline anhydrous sodium sulfate (NaSO4).

It's utilised in kaolin clay bleaching, fur bleaching and reductive whitening, and bamboo and straw bleaching.

It's found in minerals, thiourea compounds, and other sulphides.

Manufacturing Process:

Sodium hydrosulphite is being produced. Sodium bisulphate and sulphuric acid are heated to form sodium sulphate, which is subsequently treated with steam to produce sodium hydroxide and hydrogen sulphide.

The highly hazardous gas is then degraded in two stages: first, thermal breakdown with calcium oxide in water at 500-600 degrees Celsius (the reaction creates calcium sulphide), then heating in air at 300-400 degrees Celsius to release water vapour and leave sodium sulphide behind. Finally, around 200-300°C, sodium hydroxide and sulphur dioxide react to form sodium met sulphite.
